Bradley Riggs NBA Playoff Predictions

I spoke with The Overseer’s Bradley Riggs and got his NBA Playoff Predictions!

The Thunder are the most exciting team to watch right now but when it comes down to winning it all, I think they are still one year away. Miami and LeBron would have back-to-back finals appearances and I just don’t see them coming up short this year.

Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith Interview

Read my interview with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith.

Can you share a little more about where Aerosmith is at with this album?

Steven Tyler: We’ve been out here working for the last year. The last four months, Joe came to L.A. while I’m doing Idol. We finished working with Jack Douglas and the record came out better than we thought. We knew we’d finish it. It was nose to the grindstone, beyond my wildest expectations, with how great [drummer] Joey [Kramer] played and how [guitarist] Brad [Whitford] played and how [bassist] Tom [Hamilton] played. What Jack brought is astounding.

Phil Anselmo Interview

Read my post with Phil Anselmo about the new Down EP, and his new solo project. Says Anselmo,

“My solo record is recorded and has one more mix to go,” he said. The project will be called, simply, Philip H. Anselmo, and the album title is ‘Walk Through Exits Only.’

Phil Anselmo Defends His Saints

I spoke with Phil Anselmo recently and we got talking about the drama involving his beloved New Orleans Saints. Said Anselmo,

“The f—ing league has handed out a penalty without having a case,” the singer said. “It’s very interesting that it comes at a time when the NFL is being sued by multiple f—ing plaintiffs about and former players dealing with concussion related things, memory loss and [the recently deceased] Junior Seau. It doesn’t help at all. The Saints are good for the city; we take pride even when we were the biggest f—ng losers, we found pride in that.”

Phil Anselmo Talks ‘Vulgar Display of Power’

Read my big Q&A interview session with Phil Anselmo. We got talking about the 20th anniversary reissue of Pantera’s ‘Vulgar Display of Power.’

Do you have a favorite song from ‘Vulgar?’
That’s a tough pick. If I had to, I’d go with ‘A New Level.’ The riff is punishing, and once again, those lyrics, man. In hindsight, I look back at them, motherf—er man. It’s not like ‘Oh s—, what happened?’ But ‘Ooooh s—.’ I got it and I got it so young. You grow, go through bulls— yourself, having penned these myself, you think that you are not 24 anymore, you are 34, and now f—ing 44. Jesus Christ, you look back, man, my head was in a more logical place than it is today, but like you, you read into it, let it affect you. I can do that these days, since I am not so close to it anymore, I can step back and listen. I can listen, since I am not as close and not in it. I can sit back and be objective, as a listener. I’m not an outsider, but I can listen to it with a fresh opinion.

Poppy King Interview

Read my latest interview with Poppy King over at Beauty News NYC.

BN: I am a pink/nude gloss girl. I can’t do red lipstick. Is there anything you can suggest –tip or technique or even an attitude adjustment suggestion– to get me try it? I am light-skinned, with dark hair, dark eyes!
PK: Start with a sheer red. Every single person can do red. When it is super sheer, you can go up from there. It will help the adjustment to being a red lipstick wearer.

The Wanted Interview

Read my interview with The Wanted. Said Jay McGuiness,

I like video editing, which is sort of geeky. When we started, and this was key to our success, we used to record videos and put them out every Wednesday. We kept doing it, and fans were crazy about it.

Carly Rae Jepsen Interview

I recently interviewed Carly Rae Jepsen. Said Jepsen,

“When you write a bunch of songs, it’s like being asked to pick a favorite kid. You wonder what will be loved and which will just be my own little journal entry that I personally like. It was a surprise that it took off the way it did, but a welcome surprise.”

Kimberly Goss Interview

Read the interview I did with former Dimmu Borgir Keyboardist Kimberly Goss.

I would definitely love to start or join another band someday, but for the time being it’s not too practical. My days consist of taking my daughter to school, ballet class, libraries, playgrounds, and of course catching great shows like ‘Disney Princesses on Ice’ or ‘Sesame Street Live’ [laughs]. I do have a feeling that getting back into a band will be somewhere in my future. The urge and desire is definitely still there and I have never stopped writing music.

Matthew Morrison Interview

I interviewed Matthew Morrison from Glee. I asked him about how far he’s come in the past two years:

“I didn’t think the world would be ready for this kind of show. Now it is hard to walk down the street without being recognized. While it might be a case of ‘be careful what wish for,’ with lost anonymity, it is a dream come true! I am also in a place where I am getting ready to release my first single and album.”
