Manners Interview

I interviewed Manners’ guitarist Ian Bates for Noisecreep, and asked about any hidden skills or talents.

I can play accordion and banjo, which people would probably find odd. If I’m not making some kind of music, I like buying a bunch of weird ingredients from the grocery store and play Iron Chef by myself in the kitchen.

HVY MTL Report

Read my review of Hvy MTL, ‘Mud and Metal Invade Montreal With System of a Down, Killswitch Engage + Others.’

While Heavy TO took place in Toronto concurrently, with the lineups swapping on Saturday and Sunday, Hvy MTL unfolded in one of the loveliest cities in this French-speaking province over the Aug. 11 and 12 weekend. Since Montreal boasts an edgy, European vibe as a city, it makes sense that Heavy MTL, which launched in 2008, was canceled in 2009 and has been going strong since 2010, would effectively mirror a European fest.

Josh Scogin of The Chariot Interview

Read my interview with The Chariot vocalist Josh Scogin.

I really don’t see how people can grow stale from playing live shows every night. By its very nature, it is supposed to be FRESH. You never know what people are going to show up, or how many people [will show up], or what the stage is like or what technical difficulty will arise or any number of things..The only thing NOT fresh is the band itself — if they allow it to be so.

Bradley Riggs NBA Playoff Predictions

I spoke with The Overseer’s Bradley Riggs and got his NBA Playoff Predictions!

The Thunder are the most exciting team to watch right now but when it comes down to winning it all, I think they are still one year away. Miami and LeBron would have back-to-back finals appearances and I just don’t see them coming up short this year.

Kimberly Goss Interview

Read the interview I did with former Dimmu Borgir Keyboardist Kimberly Goss.

I would definitely love to start or join another band someday, but for the time being it’s not too practical. My days consist of taking my daughter to school, ballet class, libraries, playgrounds, and of course catching great shows like ‘Disney Princesses on Ice’ or ‘Sesame Street Live’ [laughs]. I do have a feeling that getting back into a band will be somewhere in my future. The urge and desire is definitely still there and I have never stopped writing music.

Hank3 Interview

I interviewed Hank3 and how he straddles the country and metal/hard rock world. Said Hank3,

“Country is for the working man and woman. I have always liked rock, since day one of doing the hillbilly sound, then the doom metal and heavier stuff. I always liked rock.”

Matt DeVries Interview

I interviewed Fear Factory’s new bassist Matt DeVries all about his time in Six Feet Under, Chimaira, and now touring with the band that he’s been a fan of since his youth. Said DeVries,

“There’s a lot of touring already planned for around the world, so get ready!”

Jesse Ketive Interview

I spoke with Emmure guitarist Jesse Ketive for Noisecreep.

“Musically, we’ve grown, and where we are now, a lot of people could connect. As in anything with life, some things fade, but it’s not a concern.”

Dan Donegan Interview

I did an interview with Disturbed’s Dan Donegan about the future of the band.

Basically, we are coming off the road and not making a game plan just yet. I don’t know what that means. We’ve never taken a break. We might miss it so much, that in two months, we write and make a record. It could be two years or 10 years? I dunno.
