American Idol Top 6 Recap

Here’s my recap post for the Top 6 on American Idol.

The majestic music of the legendary rock band Queen was the focus of the first half of tonight’s (April 25) episode of ‘American Idol.’ The Top 6 had a big task ahead of them, since late vocalist Freddie Mercury was one of the biggest, most revered and inimitable voices in rock music. He was a game changer so the Idols were certainly challenged.

Mathai Eliminated from The Voice

Read my post about Mathai being eliminated from The Voice.

America saved Tony Lucca for Team Adam Levine on ‘The Voice,’ so Katrina Parker and Mathai had to perform for the save on tonight’s (April 24) elimination episode. Levine ended up choosing Parker after a long, drawn out speech about his love for both of them and their talents, therefore ending Mathai’s run on the show. So Lucca and Parker will represent Team Adam in the semis next week.

Cheesa Gone from The Voice

Read my post about Cheesa being eliminated on tonight’s episode of The Voice.

Cheesa the diva sang ‘Already Gone,’ which is to be expected of a vocalist of her caliber. She has a voice to be reckoned with, but the coaches noted that she was a hair under pitch for much of the song except during the last notes, which she hit, so it was an unbalanced perf.

James Massone and PIP Eliminated from The Voice

Read my recap from tonight’s episode of The Voice, in which James Massone and PIP get eliminated.

James Massone was instantly eliminated by coach Cee Lo while Pip was also sent home by his coach Adam Levine during the quarterfinals tonight (April 23) on ‘The Voice.’ The coaches had to effectively take one of their team members to the barn and shoot them, metaphorically speaking.

Colton Dixon Off American Idol

I wrote about Colton Dixon getting eliminated from tonights American Idol.

Dixon hadn’t planned on pursuing ‘Idol’ dreams, but his sister, who didn’t make it past the auditions, sucked him into the process and he went deep and far. Even though his song choices were wrong, the spiky-haired rocker is not going to fade into obscurity. We’ll see him again soon, since he has such a current look and sound. He just needs a little A+R guidance, and that can’t be properly administered during the confined space of a reality show. All in due time.

American Idol Recap – the “Now and Then” Episode

Read my recap of American Idol, where the top seven did a modern hit and a throwback classic from the soul era.

Colton Dixon: He went outside the box to perform Lady Gaga‘s ‘Bad Romance,’ turning in an exciting interpretation where he went down to go up. His throwback song was Earth, Wind and Fire’s ‘September,’ and while he “Colton-ed” it and gave it his own spin, the judges felt it wasn’t exciting and wished he had flipped a more drastically different song. Meh, we liked it.

Ashley De La Rosa Booted From The Voice

Read my recap of Ashley De La Rosa being eliminated from The Voice.

De La Rosa sang Lady Gaga‘s ‘You & I’ for the save and it was the perfect song for her, since the tune has that pop rock edge that ADLR favors and knows is her career path. We were shocked she was in the bottom, since every performance she has given has been increasingly strong. Stronger than the week before, in fact. Adam Levine didn’t think it was her best rendition, while Blake Shelton felt that her overall body of work should earn her a spot in the semis. Clearly, Xtina didn’t agree. But it’s her team.

RaeLynn Eliminated on The Voice

I wrote about RaeLynn being eliminated from tonights episode of The Voice.

RaeLynn, as mentioned, stayed country, singing the Band Perry‘s smash ballad ‘If I Die Young.’ Her diction is a little strange, but she has a strong country twang and is utterly adorbs. Adam Levine felt it was a bit too safe for his liking.

The Voice Recap: Jesse Campbell and Jordis Unga Eliminated

Read my latest recap of The Voice.

On tonight’s episode of ‘The Voice,’ Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton were forced to instantly eliminate a member of each of their teams, paring their groups down to three before America even had the chance to vote. The herds are thinning as we get closer and closer to choosing the Season 2 winner.

The Wanted Interview

Read my interview with The Wanted. Said Jay McGuiness,

I like video editing, which is sort of geeky. When we started, and this was key to our success, we used to record videos and put them out every Wednesday. We kept doing it, and fans were crazy about it.
