I spoke with former Nothingface bassist Bill Gaal for a new feature called, Life After the Pit.’ Speaking on why the last Nothingface album never came to be, Gaal said,

“It was just things going on in everyone’s life and the timing.”

Adam Levine went first, pitting Jeff Jenkins and Casey Desmond against one another, in a classic battle of obvious favorite versus the dark horse. Levine had the two polar opposites sing Elton John’s ‘Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me,’ since the song is a show stopper. He chose Jenkins for his simple but mind-blowing style.

Toby Morse Interview

I spoke with H2O vocalist Toby Morse about their upcoming ‘Don’t Forget Your Roots’ covers album. Said Morse,

“I have been vegetarian since 1988 because of being inspired by my roommates — Civ, Walter, and Alan Cage — and to record ‘Cats and Dogs’ by Gorilla Biscuits, a song that truly got me into animal rights and becoming a hardcore vegetarian, is truly an honor.”

American Idol Recap: Scotty McCreery Wins

Read my recap ofScott McCreery winning American Idol.

McCreery was clearly snakebitten by the results, but he didn’t forget to thank the Lord as he wiped a tear. It was too cute and too sweet for words. He also immediately engulfed Alaina in a huge hug upon receiving the results and said that the two of them started the journey together a year ago and that they will continue to embark on this path side-by-side.

I reviewed the latest single from Lady Gaga, ‘You and I.’

Overall, Gaga’s voice, guitar riffs and keyboards take center stage in the song, and in that order and ‘You and I’ is satisfying slice of Gaga-gone-rock-opera.

The final three contestants performed three songs each on tonight’s ‘American Idol‘ semi-finals. They got to choose one, famed record producer Jimmy Iovine picked one and so did the show’s producers. Rock, pop and country music hits were all featured.

Cee Lo’s specific focus was getting his crew to make him (and the crowd and viewing audience) really and truly feel it when they performed. He cautioned against dipping into pre-packaged emotions or manufactured feelings.
