American Idol Recap: Jennifer Lopez Cries

Read my latest American Idol recap.

It’s usually the contestants that melt down during the ‘American Idol‘ auditions, due to the pressure, the competition, and the general court of public opinion. Tonight, as contestants were picked off and narrowed down to the top 24, the emotion got to judge Jennifer Lopez, who welled up a few times during the narrowing down of 40 hopefuls to 24.

Stacey Schieffelin Interview

I hold the creation, development and integrity of the original ybf automatic universal taupe eyebrow pencil very close to my heart. I was blessed, years ago, to be able to do a photo shoot on the French Rivera with the graceful Grace Kelly. Our makeup artist gave me matching brows to her royalty!

Lemmy Kilmister Interview

I interviewed Lemmy Kilmister about the ‘Lemmy’ documentary, and I told him he was the Clint Eastwood of metal, and how he feels about doing metal after all these years. His response,

“That is very flattering of you to say. As for doing metal? What else am I going to do? That’s pretty good, I guess.”

American Idol Recap: Haley Reinhart, Casey Abrams

Read my latest American Idol recap.

Haley Reinhart and her huge, Taylor Swift-style blond ringlets were matched only by her room-filling voice. We love how she extended her hand while singing. Casey Abrams, the Seth Rogen doppelganger, strummed a stand up bass while singing ‘Georgia on My Mind,’ which caught the attention of fellow bassist Randy Jackson. Robbie Rosen made Jennifer Lopez tear up as he tickled the ivories, while Lauren Alaina reprised ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.’ They are all still favorites in these early rounds.

Country baritone and fan fave Scotty McCreery gave an encore performance of a Josh Turner song and sticking with what he knows served him well. He gives J. Lo goosebumps, too. Chris Medina, who sings for his wheelchair-bound girlfriend, also got another chance. Jacee Badeaux, the young, heavy set boy with the angelic voice, also impressed, as did Hollie Cavanaugh, who was way more confident in her second round than her first, where she sobbed.

Spencer Chamberlain Interview

I interviewed Underoath’s Spencer Chamberlain about handling all the vocals duties on the new album. Said Chamberlin,

“It’s now one singer doing it all — like most bands — and I took a lot of extra time to get melodies I wanted and I could have it all in place. It was fun but a lot of work. I was singing past dinner time every day for a month and a half.”

Jemma Kidd Interview

Jemma KiddRead my interview with Jemma Kidd.

Jemma Kidd Make Up School is an edited collection of core make-up essentials. I wanted to create a range that was non-intimidating, featuring wearable colours and multi-purpose, handbag-friendly products. Millions of women throughout the world wear make-up, but very few have been taught how to apply it, so I wanted to take the mystery out of make-up by creating step-by-step instructions to accompany each product.
