Aaron Lewis of Staind Interview

I spoke with Aaron Lewis of Staind recently, and he told me how he doesn’t warm up his vocals before shows.

“I don’t warm up. I tend to be smoking one thing or the other on the way to the stage. And no, I don’t do anything to warm up. Actually, if I play acoustically, I could play every night for weeks on end and it wouldn’t hurt my voice. Playing with the band hurts my voice, because I try and keep up with volume of the band.”

King Diamond Interview

I spoke with the mighty King Diamond. about his reissue series with Metal Blade Records.

“These four remasters have taken up some time,” King added. “I’ve been working on the old footage that is bootleg, but we have good equipment so we can enhance the footage quite a bit. There will be a three DVD set and maybe even four-disc DVD set of Mercyful Fate.”

Jamey Jasta Interview

I spoke with Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed about the early days of touring. Said Jasta,

“Every day, when my feet hit the ground, whether I am getting out of bed or rolling out of my bunk, I am grateful and humbled. I remember two or three years into the touring we did on ‘Satisfaction’ and not having enough money to even get a Motel 6, so we were sleeping on top of gear in the van.”

Maynard James Keenan Interview

Here’s another post from interview with Maynard James Keenan, this time discussing his “job.”

“The job, and what I interpret as my job, if that’s how you want to label it, is to observe, interpret and report. We march to the beat of that drummer, so the results are different and decisions are different, since they have nothing to do with money or fame.”

I spoke with Rammstein guitarist and backing vocalist Paul Landers (via a translator) about their new album, and some of the inner turmoil the band has endured. Said Landers,

“After all of the years together, there was the tendency for band members to work together in smaller groups and then contribute ideas to the whole. [Drummer Christoph ‘Doom’ Schneider] issued an ultimatum, that we needed to work together or not do it at all.”
