Interview with Marc Colombo of Free Reign

Though I’m a devout Philadelphia Eagles fan, I spoke to Dallas Cowboys right tackle Marc Colombo about his new band Free Reign. Said Colombo,

“I had a few bands I was in when I was on the Chicago Bears for four years,” Colombo told Noisecreep. “I played guitar. Then when I joined the Cowboys, I was making up songs, singing, recording and do stuff on my own, when my teammate Cory — who became my drummer and is my fellow offensive lineman — who I hung out with, played at my house and we were better than we thought we were going to be. It was rough at first, though!”

Sean Kinney of Alice In Chains Interview

I interviewed Sean Kinney, drummer of Alice in Chains, for a “making of” video for their song, ‘Your Decision.’ Said Kinney,

“They shoot everyone else first, but you, as the drummer, play longer. If they do individual shots, you have to be in the background, playing behind each guy for continuity. Then they do your closeups and while they spend an hour on the other guys, they shoot the drummer for 10 minutes. I am like, ‘Cool, great, let’s get out of here.’ You work five times harder, and you’re never in the video, unless you’re Tommy Lee with a spinning drum set.”

We also spoke about their Grammy nomination. Said Kinney,

“Layne told me one time when we lost, ‘We should’ve won that.’ So it’d be bittersweet. He thought it’d be funny if we won. Either way, it’s fine.”

10 Years of Kittie, My Interview with Morgan Lander

I spoke with Morgan Lander of Kittie about their 10 year anniversary. Said Lander,

“Hmm, another 10 years? As you get older, you feel the tour pain a little more and in different spots. Like, ‘Oh my lower back is starting to go!'”

Interview with Lamb of God Drummer Chris Adler

I spoke with Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler about their second Grammy Nomination. Said Adler,

“The first nomination was odd, and the second one proves the first one wasn’t a fluke. It’s weird. Any member of any metal band doesn’t aspire to win a Grammy. It’s outside of our reality, if you will.”

Ville Valo Interview

I spoke with Ville Valo of HIM recently, and we spoke of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Said Valo,

“Christmas is one of the only days that I don’t work,” he revealed. “So I am excited to hang out with parents and my bro. We’ll eat, sit down, watch TV and shoot the s—. We’re not going to do anything big. There are no relatives coming over. It’ll be just us four.”

Here’s an excerpt from another part of my interview with Ville Valo, talking about the “heartagrams.”

“I am always flattered to the point of blushing,” Valo told Noisecreep. “It’s amazing that the symbol has traveled so well. It’s crazy that so many people know about it and find it interesting enough to actually put it on their skin. Back in the day, a tattoo meant commitment!”

Interview With Darac

Darac InterviewRead my interview with celeb makeup artist Darac. Said Darac,

Some of my favorite beauty tips are the most simple but most effective. Everything you do in your makeup routine must revolve around the theory that the appearance of youth and symmetry equal beauty. It is a universal truth and it will allow you to become more attractive!

Aaron Lewis of Staind Interview

I spoke with Aaron Lewis of Staind recently, and he told me how he doesn’t warm up his vocals before shows.

“I don’t warm up. I tend to be smoking one thing or the other on the way to the stage. And no, I don’t do anything to warm up. Actually, if I play acoustically, I could play every night for weeks on end and it wouldn’t hurt my voice. Playing with the band hurts my voice, because I try and keep up with volume of the band.”

King Diamond Interview

I spoke with the mighty King Diamond. about his reissue series with Metal Blade Records.

“These four remasters have taken up some time,” King added. “I’ve been working on the old footage that is bootleg, but we have good equipment so we can enhance the footage quite a bit. There will be a three DVD set and maybe even four-disc DVD set of Mercyful Fate.”

Jamey Jasta Interview

I spoke with Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed about the early days of touring. Said Jasta,

“Every day, when my feet hit the ground, whether I am getting out of bed or rolling out of my bunk, I am grateful and humbled. I remember two or three years into the touring we did on ‘Satisfaction’ and not having enough money to even get a Motel 6, so we were sleeping on top of gear in the van.”
