Maynard James Keenan Interview

Here’s another post from interview with Maynard James Keenan, this time discussing his “job.”

“The job, and what I interpret as my job, if that’s how you want to label it, is to observe, interpret and report. We march to the beat of that drummer, so the results are different and decisions are different, since they have nothing to do with money or fame.”

Interview with Morgan Lander of Kittie

I spoke with Kittie‘s Morgan Lander about surviving the music business. Said Lander,

“The most important is to be good at what you do and be confident. We were young and naïve when we started, and the one thing we had was that we thought we were pretty awesome. People may not have agreed at the time, but there was something there.”

Tom Morello Interview

I spoke with Tom Morello and he told me how to make that “‘screechy scratch’ sound” on the guitar!

“Turn the volume of one pick up to 10 and of the other pick up to 0. When you switch between pick ups, it acts as a killswitch, since one is off and one is on. Once you get that far, rub the palm of your hand along the strings, which is abrasive and makes a ‘white noise’ wash. Then use the toggle switch, which turns the white noise wash on and off… which sounds very much like a turntable scratch.”
