Before revealing that he gave Simms 60 points to Rogers’ 40 points, Cee Lo, wearing a crimson handkerchief to represent Team Red, proclaimed that he would forever love both of his contestants. He was completely blown away by Simms’ performance last night, which is why he swung the pendulum in her favor with the point tally.

Before revealing how he split the points for his two vocalists, Shelton said, “Jermaine took a huge step, walking away from a really good gig,” referencing the singer’s former gig as an Alicia Keys backup vocalist. He also said, “Erin has been through a personal hell and back, losing her father. But she stands there and she has so much strength.”

Before revealing his assignation of points to each of his team members, Levine told them they are both fortunate and in a terrific position moving forward. He said, “I look at this as a victory. It’s not so much about winning as it is about using the show as a launchpad. You win.” He has a point there.

TEAM CHRISTINA AGUILERA:
Chris Mann: He went mainstream last week and came back to his roots, singing ‘Ave Maria‘ in his beautiful, resounding, operatic voice. The heavens opened when he sang.
Lindsey Pavao: She went “indie” with her cover of Bon Iver’s ‘Skinny Love.’ She’s mastered that pretty, breathy style. She has quiet power but also turns in a similarly styled performance every week. BTW, Drew from ‘X Factor’ covered this song last year, too, and she and Lindsey are cut from the same cloth.

Elise Testone was booted from American Idol tonight.
Testone has a unique voice, but it was not enough to propel her the Top 5. This is a pop show and she is a rock singer, so the exposure she got as an ‘Idol’ contestant should garner her attention from that community, since she no doubt deserves it.

The majestic music of the legendary rock band Queen was the focus of the first half of tonight’s (April 25) episode of ‘American Idol.’ The Top 6 had a big task ahead of them, since late vocalist Freddie Mercury was one of the biggest, most revered and inimitable voices in rock music. He was a game changer so the Idols were certainly challenged.

America saved Tony Lucca for Team Adam Levine on ‘The Voice,’ so Katrina Parker and Mathai had to perform for the save on tonight’s (April 24) elimination episode. Levine ended up choosing Parker after a long, drawn out speech about his love for both of them and their talents, therefore ending Mathai’s run on the show. So Lucca and Parker will represent Team Adam in the semis next week.

Cheesa the diva sang ‘Already Gone,’ which is to be expected of a vocalist of her caliber. She has a voice to be reckoned with, but the coaches noted that she was a hair under pitch for much of the song except during the last notes, which she hit, so it was an unbalanced perf.

James Massone was instantly eliminated by coach Cee Lo while Pip was also sent home by his coach Adam Levine during the quarterfinals tonight (April 23) on ‘The Voice.’ The coaches had to effectively take one of their team members to the barn and shoot them, metaphorically speaking.

I wrote about Colton Dixon getting eliminated from tonights American Idol.
Dixon hadn’t planned on pursuing ‘Idol’ dreams, but his sister, who didn’t make it past the auditions, sucked him into the process and he went deep and far. Even though his song choices were wrong, the spiky-haired rocker is not going to fade into obscurity. We’ll see him again soon, since he has such a current look and sound. He just needs a little A+R guidance, and that can’t be properly administered during the confined space of a reality show. All in due time.
