Glee Project Recap – the “Generosity” Episode

Be sure to read my latest recap for ‘The Glee Project,’ over at Pop Crush.

This week’s “wrench” was the fact that the singers had to play instruments in the video for My Chemical Romance’s ‘Sing.’ Since our dreadlocked pal Samuel is the only one who plays instruments, it would appear that he had a distinct advantage. Not so, as you’ll find out later.

The Glee Project Recap – the ‘Believability” Episode

Read my recap of this weeks ‘Glee Project.’

In order to test their believability, this week’s video was created for ‘The Only Exception’ by Paramore. The singers were required to convey being in love with someone who doesn’t know they even exist and this assignment required them to focus on the acting and the singing, not the choreography.

Glee Project Recap – The “Sexy” Episode

I wrote another recap for ‘The Glee Project.’

The contestants revisited familiar territory for the video, once again performing a Katy Perry song. This time it was ‘Teenage Dream.’ The final six were paired up to perform different and unique scenarios that demonstrated their sexuality. However, the minute you try and force being sexy, it’s usually not sexy at all, and the contestants were told to be aware of that.

Glee Project Recap – the “Tenacity” Episode

Read my recap of this week’s episode of ‘The Glee Project,’ with “tenacity” as the theme.

For the homework assignment, the crew was asked to demonstrate tenacity by performing LaRoux’s ‘Bulletproof.’ Adler made the singers cycle through the song twice, asking them to show him something new that they’ve yet to do. He said they all brought their “A plus” game, but Marissa won.

Il Volo Interview

I spoke with Il Volo about American Idol, and how they’d love to do a duet with Celine Dion. Said the band,

“The day after ‘American Idol,’ our management said to us, that we had 30 million viewers. We said, ‘Really?’ We were really excited. Before ‘American Idol,’ we were three unknowns. Our lives changed because of ‘American Idol.’ Then, we were in Times Square and everyone recognized us.”

Skylar Grey Interview

I interviewed Skylar Grey about her debut ‘Invinsible’ album, her preference in singing her own songs, how Marilyn Manson inspired her album title, and what she fantasizes about on airplanes. Said Grey,

It’s about making good art. I don’t have a voice like people in the pop industry and you can’t make me have a different voice. I will just create art. Here’s my thing: Alanis Morissette didn’t sound like anyone when she came out. It sounded like alternative music. Then, being on the radio, it turned into pop music, which changes over time. Pop music is an ever-changing, evolving thing.

The Glee Project Recap

I wrote a recap of ‘The Glee Project’ for Pop Crush.

This week’s episode was centered on theatricality, specifically what it is (fearlessness) and what it isn’t (over-the-top drama). Who needs theatricality in a performance when the show’s premise offers that in spades?

Lady Gaga Performs ‘The Edge of Glory’ at 2011 MuchMusicAwards

Lady Gaga performed ‘The Edge of Glory’ at the 2011 MuchMusic Awards.

Gaga’s performance tonight was incredibly and artistically similar to the video, which she premiered this past Thursday. Her stage set up was that of a fire escape in an urban landscape where she danced the night away. She performed in a couture black catsuit, studded and encrusted with jewels, as well as the turquoise blunt bobbed wig that she has been sporting as of late and which she wore to the CFDAs.

American Idol Recap: Scotty McCreery Wins

Read my recap ofScott McCreery winning American Idol.

McCreery was clearly snakebitten by the results, but he didn’t forget to thank the Lord as he wiped a tear. It was too cute and too sweet for words. He also immediately engulfed Alaina in a huge hug upon receiving the results and said that the two of them started the journey together a year ago and that they will continue to embark on this path side-by-side.

American Idol Recap: Finale!

Read my latest American Idol recap.

On tonight’s final ‘Idol’ performance episode of season 10, the judges gave a slight nod to Alaina; but as we all know, it’s not exactly up to them. It’s up to Americans, who are voting as we speak. Here’s a rundown of what McCreery and Alaina did on tonight’s ‘American Idol.’
