Demi Lovato on the Cover of Self Magazine

Read my post about Demi Lovato on the cover of Self Magazine.

The cover features a summery shot of Lovato, with sunkissed skin and her mega long and lightened-to-blonde beachy waves tumbling all around her face while she balances a big blue beach ball behind her head and shoulders.

Nelly Furtado ‘Spirit Indestructible’ Review

Read my review of the new Nelly Furtado track, ‘Spirit Indestructible.’

It’s dance floor jam, but it’s also stuffed with trite contemporary pop conventions. There’s nothing about this song that distinguishes it from the oversaturated market.

Seth Aaron of Children 18:3 Interview

Read my interview with Seth Aaron of Children 18:3.

This record was fun though, because we did it with Travis Wyrick (P.O.D.), and he’s just nuts. The guy is a machine – hyper all day long and super fun. I’ve never met a producer that gets up at 6 everyday and still works late hours. We all hung out a lot even went we weren’t tracking, we went to his daughters’ high school basketball games and his church, and we’d go out to eat with him almost every day.

Kelly Clarkson on Cover of Lucky Magazine

Read my post about Kelly Clarkson on the cover of Lucky Magazine.

Even more standout in the cover shot is her ear-to-ear grin, an “accessory” that is no doubt a result of her new relationship with Brandon Blackstock, who is the stepson of country queen Reba McEntire. Clarkson wears her smile well. Yeah, love’ll do that to ya.

Marcus Canty ‘In & Out’ Song Review

Read my review of the Marcus Canty ‘In & Out’ track.

‘In & Out’ boasts a harder and more beat-driven sound, thanks to the help of hard-hitting emcee Wale. The thunderous percussion and the “won’t quit” beat almost mimic coitus, hence the ‘In & Out’ title and lyrics about being “in and out of love.”

Glee Project Recap

Check out my newest Glee Project recap.

On this week’s (July 3) episode of ‘The Glee Project,’ the theme was ‘Adaptability,’ which is something all ‘Glee‘ cast members must deal with week in and week out. There are set changes, cast changes, plot changes and storyline changes. You have to think, act, sing and dance on your feet, no matter what Ryan Murphy throws at you.

Katy Perry in Vogue Italia

Read my post about Katy Perry in Vogue Italia.

Upon first view, you might ask, “Who’s that girl?” Which is, mind you, the name of a Madonna song and film, but we’re not going there at this moment. Perry is topped by a mod, rounded and severe, white-hot bob, with extreme winged black eyeliner. These are not looks that we see her sport often. But on Gaga? This would be par for the course.

Josh Scogin of The Chariot Interview

Read my interview with The Chariot vocalist Josh Scogin.

I really don’t see how people can grow stale from playing live shows every night. By its very nature, it is supposed to be FRESH. You never know what people are going to show up, or how many people [will show up], or what the stage is like or what technical difficulty will arise or any number of things..The only thing NOT fresh is the band itself — if they allow it to be so.

Avett Brothers Song Review

I reviewed the Avett Brothers ‘The Carpenter.’

Overall, ‘Live and Die’ is slice-of-life and it’s also roadside rootsy, with a banjo being featured prominently in both the mix and the melody. It gives the song a decidedly Americana feel.

Glee Project Recap

Read my recap of the latest Glee Project.

Sexuality is an incredibly important concept on ‘Glee‘ proper, so it was no shock that it was the theme of this week’s (June 26) episode of ‘The Glee Project.’ It was no doubt a challenging theme for the 11 remaining hopefuls — namely transgendered Tyler, who was sent home — since some of them have little to no experience with their sexuality, while others think that turning it on full tilt is the way to go.
