Scott ‘Wino’ Weinrich Interview

Read my interview with Scott ‘Wino’ Weinrich. Said Weinrich,

“What keeps me going is when a young person, in their teens or early twenties, says, ‘My dad turned me on to your music,’ or ‘Your music has kept me from taking my life,'”

Mike Portnoy Interview

I interviewed Mike Portnoy and we spoke about his several new musical projects. Said Portnoy,

“I’m enjoying spreading my musical wings and collaborating with so many talented friends and musicians that I admire. My musical taste has always been so broad, and I’m loving tapping into so many different areas and styles.”

Mark McGrath Interview

I spoke with Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath about his love for metal.

“I was 20 years old and I got a ‘Butchered at Birth’ t-shirt from Cannibal Corpse on Hollywood Boulevard,” McGrath told Noisecreep about his formative love for metal attire. “I am a huge metal fan and always have been, but that’s not how people perceive me.”

Anthony Raneri Interview

I interviewed Anthony Raneri of Bayside and, of course, we got talking about his favorite NYC borough. Said Raneri,

“What I love about Queens is that it’s the mix of the suburbs and the city. That’s what people who live in Queens love about Queens: great parks, places to hang. It’s like a suburb, and I had a very tight-knit situation. But at the same time, there was a music scene, and there were clubs in Bayside for punk and hardcore bands. [Manhattan] was just a 20-minute train ride away and we had that, coupled with the wholesomeness of the suburbs.”

“I hadn’t seen the show… so naturally, out of curiosity, I started to watch it. Needless to say, I’m now hooked.”

Interview with Maria Brink

I interviewed Maria Brink of In This Moment about her fashion evolution. Said Brink,

“I gotta switch it up. I just go with the dress look, but I wear doll dresses that look like they went through a wasteland and got burned and ripped up in the process. That’s the theme of everything, a ‘star-crossed wasteland.’ That represents the life I have lead. I like that weathered, torn look. I dunno where I will be next with my look, but I am there now.”

Lemmy Kilmister Interview

I interviewed Lemmy Kilmister about the ‘Lemmy’ documentary, and I told him he was the Clint Eastwood of metal, and how he feels about doing metal after all these years. His response,

“That is very flattering of you to say. As for doing metal? What else am I going to do? That’s pretty good, I guess.”

Spencer Chamberlain Interview

I interviewed Underoath’s Spencer Chamberlain about handling all the vocals duties on the new album. Said Chamberlin,

“It’s now one singer doing it all — like most bands — and I took a lot of extra time to get melodies I wanted and I could have it all in place. It was fun but a lot of work. I was singing past dinner time every day for a month and a half.”
