Gucci Westman Interview

Read my interview with Global Artistic Director for Revlon and legendary makeup artist, Gucci Westman.

BN: What are your tips for F/W 2012-2013 beauty trends? Can you share your tips or suggestions?
GW: Fashion Week has become all about trendsetting and the makeup has even become somewhat of a fashion statement of its own. Starting with appliqués on the nails and moving up onto the face and body in recent years, makeup has become a lot more relevant in the overall looks shown. With the social media craze like Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest, there is always a moment to be photographed so you have to be ready!

Britney Spears on ELLE Cover

I wrote a post about Britney Spears on the cover of ELLE magazine.

The hair is, well, a little too soccer mom for our tastes, but then again, Brit Brit is a mother to two young (and super cute) sons, so we’ll cut her some slack. It’s also better than some of the extensions she’s worn, where the seams and weaves showed. So we’ll take it.

Lana Del Rey on Vogue Australia Cover

I wrote a post about Lana Del Rey on the cover of Vogue Australia magazine.

Del Rey’s eyes look extra large and doe-like, due to the white eyeliner in that rims then. Check out those pillowy lips, too. They look extra kissable, don’t they?

The internal images are equally as romantic and somewhat Victorian in nature, with Del Rey sporting a headful of braids and flowers. She’s once again in bloom.

Gwen Stefani Has the Blues on ELLE U.K. Cover

Check out this post I wrote over at PopCrush:

Stefani opens up about the difficulties of motherhood, confessing that “being a mom is hard.” Stefani has two adorable (and fashionable) sons — Kingston, 6, and Zuma, 4 — in addition to her band, her now-shuttered solo career and her L.A.M.B. fashion line.

will.i.am ‘Reach for the Stars’ Review

I reviewed the new will.i.am ‘Reach for the Stars’ track.

It has an epic, instrumental opening for the first minute, but then, will gets all sorts of futuristic with vocal effects. He sounds like he is singing under water, thanks to his liberal use of Autotune.

All That Remains, ‘Stand Up (Stand Up)’ Song Review

I reviewed the latest song from All The Remains, ‘Stand Up (Stand Up).’

While there are some guitars with bite here and there, the nasty thrash and European-style guitar acrobatics that defined the band’s earliest efforts are pretty much swapped out in favor of cleaner, more accessible riffs.

Opening Act Recap

Check out my recap of ‘Opening Act.’

On tonight’s (Aug. 27) episode of ‘Opening Act,’ Brooklyn-based boy band Gotham Citi were given the chance of a lifetime. They were invited to open for pop music’s favorite femcee Nicki Minaj on one of her Pink Friday tour dates. The four-piece, which formed a year ago, is an a cappella group that meets up in the city and practices in places like Central Park.

The Wanted on Coupe de Main

The Wanted graced the cover of Coupe de Main.

Seriously, we don’t think we’ve ever seen photos of the boys where they didn’t look absolutely scrumptious. Check out their Glamour spot for further proof. As if you needed a reason to gawk at more Wanted photos.

Katy Perry on L’Officiel Levant Cover

Katy Perry is on the cover of the latest issue of L’Officiel Levant.

Is it us or does it look like she’s ripping a page out of Florence + the Machine’s book, trading her typical sugary look for something more elder stateswoman? Well, at least for this cover she is.
